Upscaling hydrogen gensets in European cities

As we are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of air quality in our daily lives, we are looking at finding more effective solutions that can help us reduce air pollution in the cities, in line with the EU environmental policies, as the 2018 communication “Clean air for allEVERYWH2ERE ​is an FCH JU-funded project that aims to create transportable, zero-emission replacements for the diesel generators widely used for backup and temporary power.

Green Hydrogen Guarantees of Origin (GO) now available on the market

The FCH JU - funded project CertifHy has issued more than 75 000 Green and Low Carbon Hydrogen Guarantees of Origin (GO) that are now available on the market.

Hydrogen consumers from industry and transport can use renewable energy in their processes and reduce the greenhouse gas footprint by purchasing CertifHy Green or Low Carbon Hydrogen Guarantee of Origins now. CertifHy GOs allow end-users to consume Green and Low Carbon Hydrogen across the EU, regardless of their location.

FCH JU launches new call for project proposals

The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) has published on 15 January a new call for proposals. €80.8 million are available for developing research and demonstration projects in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH) technologies.

Addressing the sectoral integration aspect through ‘Hydrogen Valleys’ is a priority for this year’s call.

The High V.LO-City project launches demonstration site for fuel cell electric buses in Sanremo, Italy

Today, 30 November 2018, marks the official launch of the Sanremo site of the High V.LO-City project by the Mayor of Sanremo, Alberto Biancheri. Three fuel cell electric buses and their hydrogen refuelling infrastructure have been deployed in the city.

The deployment and testing of the buses is part of the High V.LO-City project, which aims at facilitating the deployment of fuel cell electric buses and their related hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in European cities. The project is co-funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking.

Zero emission buses are ready for mass-market deployment

On November 27th and 28th the second Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) Conference took place in Cologne. In light of the zero emission regulations on local, national and European level for public transport, the German city was the perfect setting as it is one of the European leaders in decarbonising bus fleets.

The ZEB conference brought together around 400 policy makers, bus operators and industry experts and called on European policy makers, manufacturers, cities and operators to take action and drive forward the realisation of zero emission public transport for Europe.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology is ready and set to power Europe’s sustainable development, it was revealed on 15 November at a high-profile Awards Ceremony in Brussels, as the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) rewarded its top projects for innovation excellence.

The 2018 Awards Ceremony is the first of the FCH JU, a public-private partnership which since 2008 has boosted industry and SME collaboration, driving research, development, deployment and market introduction of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies.

Its potential benefits for the environment, consumers and European economy can power the transition of Europe’s energy sector towards a green future” said Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union, speaking at the FCH JU Stakeholder Forum today.
