Joint Workshop: An innovation pipeline for Hydrogen & Fuel Cells

The joint workshop between FCH JU and DG Move is approaching. It will be held on the Tuesday 23 June from 14.30 to 17.00.

This session is based on the pipeline concept that will be presented at the general innovation session of Monday morning, and will, as a first example, establish a specific innovation pipeline for Fuel Cell and Hydrogen technology .

Innovation Pipelines, a new concept in the TEN-T days 2015

Innovation Pipelines are introduced by the European Commission to accelerate the flow of ideas from research, over demos, then real-life trials to market roll-outs thereby not only organising sustainable transport, but also new jobs and protecting the environment. Many innovative projects, mostly relating to alternative fuels have been co-funded across the EU: http://ec.europa.eu/transport/infrastructure/tentec/tentec-portal/site/en/innovation.html

The Joint Innovation Workshop, the implementing  instrument

In the event format of the Joint Innovation Workshop, the European Commission brings together most of the relevant funding programmes, agencies and legislation, in the form of an innovation pipeline to better coordinate the actions on EU level to bring forward an innovative subject which has the potential to strongly influence the future of European citizens and businesses.

Based on the 4 facets concept, the first innovation workshop implementing the EC Pipeline model, is entirely dedicated to fuel cell and hydrogen technologies with the political objective to give FCH technologies a strong coordinated push for its market roll-out on TEN-T.

For the first time, the FCH JU  becomes therefore a partner of the TEN-T/CEF Programme to jointly organise this new event format on the Tuesday 23/06 afternoon.

With the participation of Commissioner Ms Violeta Bulc and the Mayor of Riga Mr Nils Usakovs, the workshop will follow a tour of the large H2 exhibition that will take place on the Esplanade of the Radisson Blu Hotel Latvija and will start with a major inauguration ceremony to honour the commitment of more than 30 European regions and cities towards the deployement of fuel cell hydrogen buses.

About 20 CEOs and Managing Directors of European manufacturers leading in the production of components and vehicles and indeed all other stakeholders of the FCH sector, will gather in the Joint Innovation Workshop on H2 & FC to plan the market roll-out in Europe.

An introduction to the European Investment Bank and a brief guide to using the new financial instruments of Horizon2020, CEF & EFSI (Juncker Plan) focussing on the specific needs of innovation & new technology projectswil be presented during the general "Innovation & New Tech" session and the "H2&FuelCell Joint Workshop".
