HyFIVE: higlights from the mid- term review
At the beginning of April, for the first time cars from all five car manufacturers involved in the FCH JU funded project HyFIVE (Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles) were together in one place on the occasion of the project's mid- term review. The partners took the opportunity to bring each of their vehicles. In all, there were 11 vehicles from the five leading OEMs.
The car manufacturers in question are BMW, Daimler, Honda, Hyundai and Toyota shared their knowledge about fuel cell engineering. Through the flagship European-funded project HyFIVE these brands alongside refuelling station providers, consultants and hydrogen enthusiasts based at the Greater London Authority are working to deliver 185 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and 6 hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) across Europe in Copenhagen, London, Bolzano, Innsbruck, Munich and Stuttgart. The project is highlighting the importance of cleaner air and moving Europe towards a low-carbon economy by decarbonising the transport network.

Every 6 months there is a meeting in one of the host cities, this time the destination was Munich for two days of meetings, test drives of the project cars on BMW’s test track and visits to two HRS operated by Linde and TOTAL. This was a brilliant opportunity for everyone to understand the feel and capability of each other’s cars and the processes behind operating a HRS. This meeting was tied in with a project review led by two independent assessors.
