FCH JU Programme Review Days and Stakeholder Forum 2015
On the 17,18 and 19 November 2015, the FCH JU held its annual Programme Review Days and Stakeholder Forum in the Charlemagne building, Brussels.
On the occasion of this three-day event, around 350 people gathered to discover the Programme’s latest developments and achievements.
During the first two days, within the Programme Review Days, an exhibition of 100 posters and forty-four presentations took place, with the objective of assessing the progress and achievements of the FCH JU and FCH 2 JU programmes, notably in relation to the targets of their multi-annual and annual plans, as well as in relation to international developments in the field. Main conclusions of the 2015 edition will be available in the Programme Review report 2015, soon to be produced.
The link between the Programme Review Days and the Stakeholder Forum was established by the FCH2 JU Executive Director Bert De COLVENAER during the opening remarks of the Stakeholder Forum. Main observations included that, next to the general increase of the technology readiness level of projects, there is now a significant cross-fertilisation occurring between different projects and several EU programmes are aligning.
As a highlight of the FCH JU 2015 Stakeholder Forum, the participation of the Vice Minister President of the Flemish region and Minister of Budget, Finance and Energy, Mrs Annemie Turtleboom, underlined the growing support of public authorities towards the FCH technologies.
Minister Annemie Turtleboom
Her presentation indicated the recognition of the fuel cell and hydrogen technology share as solutions to a more sustainable society, especially regarding the zero-emission transport and the implementation of renewable energies.
Finally, it was also on the occasion of the Stakeholder Forum that the industry representation of the FCH JU officially unveiled the new branding of the association, transiting from the name “NEW IG” to now “Hydrogen Europe”. Only 10 days before the start of the COP21 summit in Paris, the association rebrands at a time of growing interest about the potential of the technology to tackle climate change, revitalise our economies and use efficient ‘made in Europe’ energy. It is preceded by several recent breakthroughs such as the commercialisation of the first series of vehicles powered by hydrogen in some European countries, the USA and Japan.
