FCH JU new Acting Executive Director
Philippe Vannson was appointed by the FCH 2 JU Governing Board on 18 November 2015 as Acting Executive Director of the FCH 2 JU as from 01 January 2016.
Philippe Vannson graduated in engineering from the “Ecole Centrale de Paris" in 1980 and obtained a DEA (Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies) in Materials Technology.
He then built a broad experience in industry/steelmaking (Dillinger Hütte, in Sollac), research (CEA, GCO Petten), programme management & public administration (Head of unit in DG BUDG, DG RTD).
Philippe Vannson headed the Research Fund for Coal from 2008 to 2010 and the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking as Interim Executive Director, at the time the basis for the autonomous Joint Undertaking was set.
He is seconded from the European Commission and at the end of his assignment as the FCH2 JU Acting Executive Director, he will return to his previous position in the Commission as Head of Unit responsible for Advanced Energy Systems.
