FCH JU Highlights at the Low Carbon Vehicle Event- H2 Aberdeen wins the Grand Prix Award
On the occasion of the Low Carbon Vehicle event held in Millbrook on the 14-15 September 2016, the H2 Aberdeen initiative won the "Grand Prix" Award. Within this initiative, the Aberdeen H2 Bus project deployed Europe’s largest fleet of hydrogen fuel cell buses and delivered UK’s largest hydrogen production and bus refuelling station, financed throught 2 FCH JU projects: HyTransit and High V.LO-City

The Champions Awards judging panel was comprised of 22 senior executives from across a range of UK organisations with a stake in the low carbon road transport agenda.
Besides this, many other initiatives linked with the FCH JU took place in the frame of this event.
FCH JU Executive Director Bart Biebuyck took the floor at the Plenary Session named "Energy for Transport; Alternative Fuels and Energy Infrastructure" with a presentation Making Fuel Cells and Hydrogen a reality in Europe.

Along with his participation, FCH JU project H2ME disseminated the project's results throught the Cenex stand and offered the possibility for participants, together with HyFive project, to test two of the project's fuel cell cars. H2ME is a flagship initiative giving fuel cell electric vehicle drivers access to the first truly pan-European network of hydrogen refuelling stations. The project will add 1555 cars and 49 stations to the existing fleet and network.
The new Rasa Riversimple car was also showcased, as part of the FCH JU funded project SWARM.
The FCH JU is supporting demonstration projects with over 1800 cars and 67 buses, together with 62 hydrogen refuelling stations throughout Europe. The total FCH JU support for transport activities amounts to 254 M€ for 45 projects of which 184M€ for demos. These transport projects demonstrate the practicality, reliability and safety of hydrogen- powered vehicles: around 40 buses and 100 cars used in EU- funded trials have already traveled
over 10 M km, avoiding around 14.200t of harmful CO2 emissions.
