Towards zero emission public transport with fuel cell buses

The HighVLOCity project partners are delighted to invite you to the final conference of the project. The event will take place at the Van der Valk Hotel in Hoogekerk, Groningen, on the 27th of November 2019. Prior to the conference, participants will have the possibility to visit a hydrogen refuelling station located in Delfzjil.

The decarbonisation of the road transport sector poses an important challenge in achieving the green house gas reduction targets defined at EU, national and local level in Europe. Public transport authorities and public transport operators play an important role in reducing emissions from road transport in cities.

The High V.LO-City project deployed 14 buses and their associated refuelling infrastructure in 4 European cities. After several years of operating the buses, project partners have gained major experience in the operation and maintenance of fuel cell buses and hydrogen refuelling stations. Improving the availability and life cycle costs of fuel cell buses were two of the main objectives of the High V.LO-City project.

The final conference will be the opportunity to present and discuss results and lessons learned from the project. The experiences of operating fuel cell buses on a daily basis will be shared by the partners.

The event will include the following sessions:
Site visit of refuelling station in Delfzjil (optional)
Session 1: Introduction, policy background and Northern Netherlands context
Session 2: HighVLOCity project, results and lessons learned, presented by project partners
Session 3: Business case and next step: scaling up of fleets and future opportunities

Join us to exchange with representatives from local authorities, public transport operators, industry and international stakeholders to discuss the road towards zero emission public transport with fuel cell buses.
