Sustainable Energy Week 2016
European Sustainable Energy Week 2016 is taking place during the week of 13- 17 June. It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.
The Policy Conference of EUSEW is the most important European conference dedicated to sustainable energy policy issues, this year organised on 14- 16 June. Sessions organised by the European Commission and energy stakeholders debate new policy developments, best practices and sustainable energy ideas, while networking events forge alliances.
FCH JU is joining a session “The role of renewable gases in a smart low- carbon energy system” on 15 June 2016 from 14:00 to 15:30, chaired by Gert De Block, Secretary General of CEDEC (European Federation of Local Energy Companies). Its purpose is to explore the potential role that renewable gases can play in the EU energy mix and understand how the existing gas grids can be used to accommodate them. This can then be set against the EU’s long-term targets for greenhouse gas reduction and renewable energy. This unique session brings together the key stakeholder groups on this topic on a European basis for the first time: the biogas and biomethane producers, the hydrogen producers, the distribution gas grid operators and the gas suppliers.
