ESPO Conference Regatta 2021

The European Sea-Port Organisation will organise its annual conference between 25-28 May 2021. Following 16 successful editions, ESPO’s annual conference has become a meeting point for European port industry and transport policy makers. The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) and its project H2Ports will be presenting on 25 May, within the first day of the event, the FCH JU vision on hydrogen applications for ports and disseminate its project's results.

What to experience

The conference features distinguished speakers, allows for open debates on topics that are high on the ports’ agenda and includes multiple networking events in beautiful settings. It is a unique opportunity for industry, stakeholders and European political scene to meet, discuss and learn from each other.

This year, the 17th edition of the ESPO Conference will be crossing Europe from South to North. Setting sail in the Port of Valencia on Tuesday 25 May and moving on towards Ghent, the Conference Regatta will be welcomed by North Sea Port on Wednesday 26 May. Finally, it will race to the finish line on Friday 28 May - last stop being the Port of Oslo.

Europe's ports - real engines of growth and green recovery

After a year of disruption, Europe is preparing for a green recovery, a plan that aims at combining the need to recover with the delivery of the Green Deal, Europe’s flagship project to become the world’s first net-zero emission area by 2050. At the same time, the EU seeks to strengthen its resilience by pursuing an open strategic autonomy approach in trade.

In 2020, Europe’s ports have shown the best of themselves. Throughout the pandemic, they remained operational and have been playing a critical role in keeping the supply chains going. It is now time to prepare for the future. Being at the centre of different strategies, Europe’s ports can be a partner in building a stronger and better Europe. They can develop towards becoming real engines of growth and green recovery, while engaging fully into the digitalisation process.

The theme, programme and practical information for this year’s edition will follow soon on the official conference website.
