Workshop Industrial application of SOFC systems- DEMOSOFC project
The FCH JU is supporting a number of projects looking at the demonstration of stationary fuel cells for commercial and industrial applications. One of this projects is DEMOSOFC. This project is looking at the demonstration of an integrated digester gas-fed 174 kWe solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The site of the installation is the municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) located in Collegno (Turin, IT) where biogas is produced from the sludge, by-product of the water treatment process. The DEMOSOFC plant will be the first industrial size Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) installation fed by biogas in Europe. The SOFC system will be the main and sole cogeneration system within the site
DEMOSOFC started on September 2015 an aims to achieve electrical efficiencies of at least 45% and cost reductions to levels that would aloow SOFC technology to be comptetive relative conventional solutions (either heat only boiler or internal combustion engines). The DEMOSOFC technologies abed on a full EU supply chain.
DEMOSOFC is organizing a workshop on 14 November 2017 where participants will be able to visit the plant being installed at the SMAT Collegno Waste Water Treatment plant in the city f Torino. The workshop is free of charge.
